Floods following days of heavy rain have killed at least 32 people in north - eastern Brazil and left around 100,000 people homeless, officials said.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the government would make federal funds available to help the homeless.
The northeastern state of Alagoas was the hardest hit.
Firefighters said yesterday 19 people had been killed there.
President Lula yesterday met with local governors to work on details of the relief efforts.
